Walter Mallmann

Walter Mallmann (born July 19, 1940 in Ney ) is a German politician ( CDU ) and former ombudsman for the state of Rhineland-Palatinate.

Life and work

After attending elementary school in Herschwiesen and the federal railway technical school in Mayen , Mallmann attended the administrative school in Koblenz . In 1954 he completed his training as a middle civil servant at the Deutsche Bundesbahn as senior secretary. In 1971 he joined the district administration of the Rhein-Hunsrück district and trained as a senior civil servant .

Political party

From 1965 to 1969 was chairman of the JU Simmern and from 1969 to 1977 CDU chairman in Simmern . From 1977 to 1986 he was chairman of the CDU district association Rhein-Hunsrück. He was a member of the CDU district board of Koblenz-Montabaur.

Public offices

Landtag Rhineland-Palatinate

Mallmann was elected to the Rhineland-Palatinate Landtag for the first time in the 1975 state election and was a member of it for three electoral terms from May 20, 1975 until his resignation on December 31, 1986. In the 8th electoral term he was a member of the Committee on Agriculture, Viticulture and Environment, the Interior Committee and the Petitions Committee. In the 9th electoral term he was from December 6, 1981 chairman of the Petitions Committee. As a member, he was a member of the Committee on Economics and Transport, the Interior Committee and the Prison Commission. In the 10th electoral term he continued to exercise the function of chairman of the Petitions Committee and was a member of the Committee for Economics and Transport, the Prison Commission and the investigative committee "Criminal Case Kanter".

Ombudsman for Rhineland-Palatinate

After leaving the state parliament, he became the ombudsman of the state of Rhineland-Palatinate on January 1, 1987. He held this office until 1994.

Communal functions

From 1969 to 1986 he was a member and since 1974 parliamentary group chairman in the Simmern city council. In the local elections in 1979 and in 1984 he was elected to the district council of the Rhein-Hunsrück district. He was a member of this until 1986.

From 1999 to 2014 he was honorary mayor of St. Goar . Since 2014 he has been First Alderman of St. Goar.

Other engagement

From 1955 to 1972 Mallmann was a member of the German Federal Railroad Officials Union (GDBA). From 1986 to 1995 member of the executive committee of the International People's Sports Association (IVV) and from 1987 to 1995 President and since 1995 Honorary President of the German People's Sports Association (DVV). In 2001 he became chairman of the Hospital St. Goar Association, in 2002 founding president of the Wine Convention for the Holy Goar in St. Goar and in 2005 chairman of the Wanderfreunde Rheinfels St. Goar.
