Willi Siber (* 1949 in Eberhardzell ) is a German painter and sculptor .

Life

Growing up in Upper Swabia , Willi Siber studied art at the University of Stuttgart from 1970 until his state examination in 1974 . At the same time he attended the State Academy of Fine Arts in Stuttgart . This, he graduated in 1976 as a master student in the class for sculpture of Herbert Baumann from the state exam. Willi Siber moved into his studios in Reutlingen and Dietenwengen in the 1970s. Since 1999, large sculptures have been created on his work place in Ticino .

Since 1990 Willi Siber has exhibited in galleries, museums and art associations around the world. He is regularly represented at international art fairs through his galleries.

Willi Siber's artistic work is complemented by a wide range of art-in-building projects.

As a freelance artist, Willi Siber is a member of the Deutscher Künstlerbund , the Künstlerbund Baden-Württemberg and XYLON , the international association of wood cutters.

Artistic creation

Willi Siber's art appears distant and close, present and immaterial at the same time. The examination of the basics of sensory perception, optical and haptic perception, with the experience of form, surface, matter and space forms the basis of all his artistic work. Regardless of the medium in which he expresses himself, in his painting, his wooden sculptures, wall and floor objects, he always invokes various kinds of pictorial principles of order - and at the same time devotes himself to dismantling them.

Willi Siber's form bodies and picture cycles examine the material wood and the spatial relationship between relief and sculpture . Voluminous lattice objects with their filigree and transparency stand alongside compact stereometric bodies, whose split or rough-sawn, cone-studded surfaces associate material vitality, vulnerability and disembodiment. The impression of heaviness and lightness, density and dissolution, spatial depth and surface concentration is in the foreground of an irritating form and surface treatment, which questions the certainty of our visual experience.

In the architectural context, his works develop a spatial character. With a sensitive feeling for site-specific situations, Willi Siber designs room installations that influence and transform the appearance of their architectural surroundings in the sense of the environment.

The innovative handling of the material wood gives Willi Siber's oeuvre a special meaning in the renewal of wood carving. In the search for ever new artistic forms of expression, plastic work with steel elements has recently been added.
