Willi Streit (born September 15, 1936 ) is a former German soccer player who won the GDR Cup with SC Chemie Halle-Leuna in 1956 and played six games in the GDR Oberliga , the top division of GDR soccer , for Halle in 1957 .

Athletic career

Until 1955, Willi Streit played for the company sports community (BSG) Empor Halle . In his last season at BSG Empor, he was East German champion with their junior team. He was then delegated to SC Chemie Halle-Leuna, whose first soccer team had just been relegated to the second-rate GDR league . In the fall of 1955, SC Chemie had to complete a 13-game transition round, which served as a transition to the calendar year game rhythm. In these games dispute was not yet used, but he was called up in the GDR league season 1956 in two point games. The SC Chemie finished this season as a climber in the GDR Oberliga and as a GDR Cup winner. Since the regular right runner Gerhard Bierbaum was not able to play in the final, Willi Streit surprisingly joined the team that defeated ZASK Vorwärts Berlin 2-1. In 1957, Streit was officially part of the SC Chemie's league squad and was used as a substitute for Gerhard Bierbaum for 28 minutes on the first day of the match. Up to the 11th matchday dispute was called up in further point games, where he was three times in the starting line-up. His use on the 11th matchday was his last league game. In 1958 he only played a league game with the 2nd team from Halle, which had merged with SC Wissenschaft Halle during the season and then appeared as SC Chemie Halle. Because of the relegation of the 1st team, the 2nd team was transferred to the University Sports Association (HSG) Wissenschaft Halle in 1959 and had to compete in the 2nd GDR League . With the help of Streit, the HSG became the relay winner, but could not prevail in the promotion round. After Streit helped the HSG to 3rd place in the 2nd GDR league in 1960, he ended his career as a high-class football player. At the end of the 1960s, Streit worked for SG 67 Halle-Neustadt in the school area.
