William Auld

William Auld (born November 6, 1924 , † September 11, 2006 ) was a Scottish Esperanto writer.

Life

He learned Esperanto in 1937, but did not begin to actively use the language until 1947. Professionally, he worked as a deputy school director.

He edited various magazines, including Esperanto en Skotlando (1949–1955), Esperanto (1955–1958, 1961–1962), Monda Kulturo (1962–1963), Norda Prismo (1968–1972), La brita esperantisto (1973–1999 ) and Fonto (1980-1987).

From 1977 to 1980 William Auld was deputy chairman of the World Esperanto Federation ; from 1979 to 1983 he was chairman of the Esperanto Academy .

His main work is the epic La infana raso (The Child Race).
