William B. Murphy
William B. Murphy (born January 9, 1908 in Mexia , Texas , † July 2, 1970 in Los Angeles , California ) was an American film editor .
Life
Murphy began his career as an assistant editor in the 1930s and 1940s. From 1951 he was active as an independent editor and was involved in more than 25 productions up to and including 1968. He worked several times with the director Henry Levin .
For his cut of the science fiction film The Fantastic Journey Murphy was nominated for an Oscar in 1967 in the category "Best Editing" . The American Cinema Editors honored him with an Eddie Award for this.
