William Bourchier, Viscount Bourchier

William Bourchier, Viscount Bourchier († June 26, 1480 ) was an English nobleman .

Life

William was the eldest son of Henry Bourchier, 1st Earl of Essex and Isabel of Cambridge, a sister of Richard Plantagenet, 3rd Duke of York . William was related to the Plantagenet house and was a first cousin of Edward IV.

He began his career in the Wars of the Roses , where he fought for the House of York at the Second Battle of St Albans (1461), Towton (1461) and Barnet (1471).

Since his father was named Earl of Essex in 1461 , William has been using the courtesy title Viscount Bourchier as his Heir Apparent .

William Bourchier, Viscount Bourchier, died before his father, 1480.

Marriages and offspring

In his first marriage he married Isobel de Vere, daughter of John de Vere , 12th Earl of Oxford . The marriage remained childless.

After Isobel's death, at the latest in 1467, he married Lady Anne Woodville, daughter of Richard Woodville, 1st Earl Rivers and Jacquetta of Luxemburg . Anne was a sister of the Queen Consort of England Elizabeth Woodville . He had two children with Anne:
