William Campbell of Breadalbane
William Alfred Hendry Campbell of Breadalbane (born March 23, 1863 in Memel , † March 14, 1944 in Berlin ) was a Prussian major general .
Life
The ancestors of Campbell come from the Scottish noble family Campbell . Growing up as the son of the British consul in Memel and Helsingfors , the capital of the Russian Grand Duchy of Finland , Campbell was admitted to the Prussian Cadet Institute in Groß-Lichterfelde near Berlin with a special permit . From 1882 on, he served in the Prussian Army first as a troop officer, then until 1914 as a teacher in cadet schools. In 1895 he had taken German citizenship. In the First World Warused again in the troop service, Campbell was wounded several times. From March 5 to April 5, 1918, he briefly commanded the 94th Reserve Infantry Brigade . Campbell received his departure in July 1919 as Major General.
After the end of the First World War he worked as a language teacher in Berlin-Lichterfelde. Campbell is buried in the Lichterfelde park cemetery.
