William Carmichael McIntosh

William Carmichael McIntosh (born October 10, 1838 in St. Andrews , Fife , Scotland , † April 1, 1931 ibid) was a Scottish medic and zoologist.

Life

McIntosh was Professor of Natural History at St. Andrews University from 1882 to 1917 .

He was a member of the Linnean Society of London , the Royal Society of Edinburgh and a corresponding member of the Zoological Society. In 1877 he was elected a member (" Fellow ") of the Royal Society . In 1899 he was awarded the Royal Medal of the Royal Society and in 1924 the Linnean Medal .
