William Douglas, 9th Earl of Angus

William Douglas, 9th Earl of Angus (* approx. 1532 - † July 1, 1591 in Glenbervie ) was a Scottish nobleman.

Life

William was a son of Archibald Douglas of Glenbervie, a grandson of Archibald Douglas, 5th Earl of Angus , and his wife Agnes Keith. He followed his distant cousin Archibald as Earl of Angus in 1587 .

Until he was earl, he was named William Douglas of Glenbervie, was a close friend of Queen Mary Queen of Scots and was involved in the Battle of Corrichie in 1562. He died at the age of 59 of a fever in Glenbervie, Scotland.

The earl was married to Egidia, daughter of Robert Graham, with whom he had the following children:
