successes

William Ellicott took part in the Olympic Games in London in 1908 and in Antwerp in 1920 . In 1908 he finished seventh in the individual competition with the Free Pistol with 458 points, while he finished the team competition alongside Jesse Wallingford , Geoffrey Coles and Henry Lynch-Staunton behind the US and Belgian teams in second place and thus won the bronze medal. Ellicott was the team's weakest shooter with 435 points. On the running deer he reached twelfth place in a single shot and sixth place in a double shot. In the team competition, only two teams, Great Britain and Sweden, started in a single shot. Sweden narrowly prevailed with 86 to 85 points, so that Ellicott, who achieved the worst result of the British with 18 points , received the silver medal together with Charles Nix , William Lane-Joynt and Thomas Ranken . At the Olympic Games in 1920 Ellicott only started in the team competition in the trap, in which he just missed another medal win with the team in fourth.
