William Russell Lane-Joynt (born March 27, 1855 in Limerick , † June 6, 1921 in Dublin ) was a British marksman and philatelist .

successes

William Lane Joynt took part in the 1908 Olympic Games in London in part in four disciplines. With the free pistol , he finished 14th in the individual competition. On the running deer he reached the sixth place in a single shot and 13th place in a double shot. In the team competition, only two teams, Great Britain and Sweden, started in a single shot. Sweden narrowly prevailed with 86 to 85 points, so Lane-Joynt, who achieved the second-best result of the British with 22 points , received the silver medal together with Charles Nix , William Ellicott and Thomas Ranken .

Lane-Joynt was a barrister and philatelist . He founded the Irish Philatelic Society , serving as its first president, and was a Fellow of the Royal Philatelic Society London . In 1921 he was included in the Roll of Distinguished Philatelists .
