Roswitha Boehm

Roswitha Böhm (* 1966 in Hanau ) is a German Romance philologist and professor of French literature and cultural studies at the Technical University of Dresden . Her main research interests are French literature and culture of the 17th century, Francophone and Hispanic literatures and cultures of the 20th and 21st centuries, gender studies, cultural transfer and language migration, memory and memory, media and migration, work and precariousness. She is the founding director of the French Francophonie Center (CFF).

Career

Roswitha Böhm studied Romance and German in Frankfurt am Main , Berlin and Paris . She completed her studies in 1992 with a Maîtrise ès Lettres Modernes at the Université de Paris IV-Sorbonne and in 1995 as a Magistra Artium at the Free University of Berlin . From 1997 to 2002 Böhm was a research assistant with Margarete Zimmermann at the Institute for Romance Philology at the Free University of Berlin. She did her doctorate in 2002 at the Technical University of Berlin with a thesis on the fairy tales of Marie-Catherine d'Aulnoy .

From 2002 to 2009, Böhm was a research assistant at the France Center in Berlin, initially at the Technical University of Berlin, and from 2006 at the Free University of Berlin. In 2010/11 she was an associate member of the France Center. She completed her habilitation in 2012 with a study on remembered contemporary history in contemporary European novels. From 2011 to 2012 she was a Junior Fellow at the Alfried Krupp Wissenschaftskolleg Greifswald . This was followed by a visiting professorship for Romance Philology / Hispanic Studies at the Free University of Berlin and a substitute for the Chair of French Literature at the University of Duisburg-Essen . Böhm turned down an offer from the University of Duisburg-Essen in 2013 and followed the call from the Technical University of Dresden to a university professorship for French literature and cultural studies in 2014. She has been the Dean of Studies in the Faculty of Linguistics, Literature and Cultural Studies since 2015. Böhm is the spokesperson for the Franco-German doctoral college “Thinking Differences” and heads the France Francophonie Center (CFF) at the TU Dresden.

Since August 2020, Böhm has been part of the university management of the TU Dresden as Vice Rector University Culture.
