William Guy (statistician)
William Augustus Guy (born June 13, 1810 , † September 10, 1885 ) was a British physician and statistician.
He was trained at Christ's Hospital and Guy's Hospital . He then studied at the University of Heidelberg and the University of Paris until he got a bachelor's degree in medicine at Cambridge University in 1837 . In 1842 he was appointed Professor of Forensics at King's College London and Assistant Physician at King's College Hospital . From 1859 to 1869 he worked as the medical director of Millbank Prison.
From 1852 to 1856 he was a writer for the Journal of the Statistical Society of London , and from 1873 to 1875 he was President of the Society. This, meanwhile renamed the Royal Statistical Society , dedicated the Guy Medal to him .
