William H. Wilmarth

William Henry "Bill" Wilmarth (born August 3, 1904 in Milan , † January 25, 1999 in Ojai ) was an American sound engineer and sound effects mixer. He was nominated twice for an Oscar .

William H. Wilmarth was involved for the first time in 1933 in the film musical Ciboulette by Claude Autant-Lara as a sound engineer. Until 1961 ( Robur, Lord of the Seven Continents ) he worked on about 85 films. In the 1950s he also worked as a sound engineer for early television ( The Liberace Show , The Dodge Dancing Party ). He worked in France in the mid-1930s. Career highlights included two Oscar nominations for best special effects . In 1942 , Wilmarth and Lawrence W. Butler were nominated for Lord Nelson's Last Love , but they were defeated by I Wanted Wings . The following year he was nominated again with Butler, but her film, directed by Zoltan Korda , The Jungle Book was defeated by Cecil B. DeMille's Pirates in the Caribbean Sea .
