William Waiter
William Kellner (born Wilhelm Wolf Kellner ; born July 30, 1900 in Austria , † May 1996 in Brighton , East Sussex ) was an Austrian - British production designer .
Life
He began his career as an illustrator for the film A Canterbury Tale (1944). Further commissions for I know where I'm going (1945), encounter (1945), error in the hereafter (1946) and black narcissus (1947) followed. In 1948 he switched to production design and worked on several British productions. Kellner was nominated twice for an Oscar : 1950 for King's Love and 1960 for Suddenly last summer . His last major assignment was for the television series Girls in the Clouds (1970–1971). In 1949 he won the prize for the best production design with the film Adel committed at the Venice International Film Festival .
