William John Maddison (* 1882 in London , † June 10, 1924 in Westcliff-on-Sea ) was a British sailor .

William Maddison, of the Royal Burnham Yacht Club sailed, was in 1920 in Antwerp at the Olympic Games in the 7-meter class Olympic champion . He was a crew member of the Ancora , whose crew also consisted of Robert Coleman and Dorothy Wright , which had only one competitor with the Norwegian boat Fornebo from skipper Johan Faye . The Fornebo won the first race, but the Ancora with skipper Cyril Wright , Dorothy Wright's husband, secured victory in the second and third races and thus finished the regatta in first place.
Like his father, Maddison was a contractor by profession.
