William Peery

William Peery (born 1743 in Sussex County , Delaware Colony , †  December 17, 1800 in Cool Spring , Delaware ) was an American politician . In 1786 he was a delegate for Delaware to the Continental Congress .

Career

William Peery initially worked as a farmer. In the 1770s he joined the revolutionary movement. During the War of Independence he was a member of the state militia and took an active part in the war. Between 1782 and 1794 he sat several times as a member of the House of Representatives from Delaware . After studying law and being admitted to the bar in 1785, he began to work in this profession. Between 1785 and 1796 he was also District Treasurer in Sussex County. In 1786 he also represented his state in the Continental Congress. William Peery died on December 17, 1800 in Cool Spring near Milton , Sussex County.
