William Pole, 7th Baronet
Sir William Templer Pole, 7th Baronet ( August 2, 1782 - April 1, 1847 ) was a British nobleman .
William Pole came from the Pole family , a family of the gentry of Devon . He was the eldest son of Sir John Pole, 6th Baronet and his wife Anne Templer . In 1789 his father changed his name to de la Pole , but Pole kept his name. When his father died early in 1799, he inherited his extensive land holdings and the title of Baronet , of Shute House in the County of Devon. His father had built a new mansion in Shute and also acquired extensive land holdings, so that the legacy was financially burdened and disorganized. Pole studied from 1801 at Christ Church College , Oxford. In 1804 he graduated with a master's degree , and in 1803 he studied at Lincoln's Inn in London. In 1810 he earned the degree of Doctor of Law . In 1818 he served as the sheriff of Devon.
In his first marriage, Pole married his cousin Sophia Anne Templer , a daughter of George Templer from Shapwick House in Somerset . With her he had a son:
- Sir John George Reeve de la Pole, 8th Baronet (1808–1874)
On August 30, 1810, De La Pole married Charlotte Fraser , a daughter of John Fraser, for the second time . He had several children with her, including:
- Charlotte Pole (1813–1898)
- Sir William Edmund Pole, 9th Baronet (1816–1895)
- Reginald Frederick Pole (1818–1848)
His heir became his eldest son John from his first marriage.
