The William R. Snodgrass Tennessee Tower (also known as the Tennessee Tower ) is a skyscraper in Nashville , Tennessee . It has a total height of 138 m and 31 floors. It is currently the third tallest building in Nashville.

The skyscraper was originally built for the National Life and Accident Insurance Company and served as the National Life Center until the US state of Tennessee bought the building in 1994. Over 1,000 Tennessee state employees who previously worked at multiple locations have since worked in the building.

The William R. Snodgrass Tennessee Tower was named after William R. Snodgrass , a politician who served as Tennessee's Comptroller of the Treasury from 1955 to 1999.

After a lightning strike on August 31, 2003, several floors were damaged by the water from the sprinkler system.
