William Spottiswoode

William Spottiswoode (born January 11, 1825 in London , † June 27, 1883 ibid) was an English mathematician and physicist.

Spottiswoode was President of the London Mathematical Society in 1870 and President of the Royal Society in 1878 . In 1876 he was accepted as a corresponding member of the Académie des sciences . In 1883 he became an Honorary Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh .
