Willie Doherty
Willie Doherty (* 1959 in Derry , Northern Ireland ) is an Irish artist (photography, video and sound installation).
Life
As a child, Doherty witnessed Bloody Sunday . His later works deal with the Northern Ireland conflict . From 1978 to 1981 he studied at the Ulster Polytechnic in Belfast. In 1999 he was a DAAD scholarship holder in Berlin.
Prices
In 1995 Doherty received the Irish Museum of Modern Art Glen Dimplex Artists Award. In 1994 and 2003 he was nominated for the Turner Prize .
