Willis Kelly

Willis E. Kelly (born December 2, 1909 in Buffalo , † September 14, 2012 in Claridon Township , Geauga County , Ohio ) was an American jazz trumpeter .

Kelly started playing the trumpet when she was twelve ; He began his professional music career in New York City , where he worked with musicians such as Artie Shaw , the Andrews Sisters , Lester Lennon and Kate Smith . During the 1940s he played in various big bands such as Larry Clinton's with singer Bea Wain . He also appeared at the 1960 inauguration celebrations for President John F. Kennedy . He spent his retirement from 1975 in Geauga County, Ohio, where he still performed at the local level. In the field of jazz he was involved in 28 recording sessions between 1928 and 1950. a. 1938 with Louis Armstrong .
