Bea Wain
Bea Wain (born April 30, 1917 in New York City , New York - † August 19, 2017 in Beverly Hills , California, born Beatrice Wayne ) was an American singer of the swing era and radio presenter.
Live and act
Wain, who had learned the piano as a child, made an early appearance on NBC's Children's Hour radio series . As a teenager, she sang in vocal groups such as Bea and the Bachelors (with Al Rinker , Ken Lane, and John Smedberg) and the V8 who appeared on Fred Waring's show . After first appearances with the orchestra of Gene Kardos and recordings with Artie Shaw in 1937, she brought Larry Clinton into his orchestra as a singer. There she sang a number of hits like Martha , You Go to My Head , Deep Purple , Heart and Soul , My Reverie and Cry, Baby, Cry (with the exception of the first two all number one hits). In 1939, she was the Billboard selected as the most popular band singer. In the same year she began her solo career and continued the series of her successes with I'm Nobody's Baby, Do I Worry? and Kiss the Boys Goodbye continued.
From 1938 until his death in 1991, she was married to the radio announcer André Baruch , with whom she had two children and after the Second World War appeared for Radio WMCA as the disc jockey team Mr. and Mrs. Music . In 1973 they moved to Palm Beach , where they ran a talk show for nine years. In 2004 she performed as a singer.
