Willm Engelke

Willm Engelke (born August 27, 1983 ) is a German fistball player .

Fistball player Willm Engelke comes from Düdenbüttel in Lower Saxony . After an unusually high number of club changes for his sport, he ended up in the neighboring town of Hammah . The men's gymnastics club there led attacker Engelke first in the hall and then in the field in the first division . In the final round of the German indoor championship in 2008, he moved into the final with promoted Hammah, which was the greatest success of the fistball division. For the field season Engelke then took over the role of player coach and led the club as the third of the first Bundesliga North again to the DM finals.

After a knee injury took away his chance at a home game at the 2007 World Cup , national coach Olaf Neuenfeld called him into the squad for the 2008 European Championship in Stuttgart . He had a regular place on the TV Stammheim system as an allegation beater, but came under the crossfire of criticism from the start. Behind world champion Austria and defending champion Switzerland it was only enough for Germany to finish third. Engelke, who was European champion four times during his youth, can be used in many ways as an attacker and player. However, at the age of 25, he announced his retirement at the end of the season in September 2008 due to persistent knee problems. Another activity as a coach of the first division club Hammah he kept open.

The trained car mechanic is not only interested in sports but also in cars. Engelke works mainly in her parents' car dealership. For family reasons, the father of a four-year-old daughter had meanwhile announced his departure from fistball (2005), but was encouraged by his brother to continue.

Willm Engelke is the one year younger brother of Carlo Engelke from TK Hannover, who retired from the national team in 2007 .
