Willy Ludwig Bitter (born February 2, 1936 in Dortmund ) is a German sculptor . He lives and works in Hilden .

life and work

After completing his apprenticeship as a carpenter (1951 to 1960), Willy L. Bitter (1960 to 1967) studied social pedagogy . He expanded his knowledge (1967 to 1969) by studying at the Düsseldorf factory seminar . From 1969 to 1980 he was a teacher for art and works at a special school in Düsseldorf-Bilk. At the same time, he was a tutor for the graduates of the Düsseldorf Art Academy and part-time teacher at the Düsseldorf factory seminar. After leaving school in 1980, he was a lecturer for design subjects (wood and ceramics) at the professional school for occupational therapy in Düsseldorf. He has been a freelance ceramist in Hilden since 1980 and has been creating sculptures since 1990 in his studio in Hilden.

In his studio in Hilden, Bitter creates metal sculptures made of iron and works of art made of wood. A number of welding work as well as wood carving and painting are his artistic creations.

In 2007 Willy Bitter designed the "Golden City Gate Prize". The film competition "The Golden City Gate" is the Oscar of the tourism industry. In 2007 Deutsche Welle TV won it at the International Tourism Exchange in Berlin .
