Willy Steinkopf (born March 3, 1885 in Löwenhagen , Königsberg district , † July 6, 1953 in Hanover ) was a German SPD politician .

Life and work

After attending the secondary school in Gumbinnen and the upper secondary school in Königsberg , Steinkopf completed training in the middle service of the Reichspost from 1901. In 1911 he became a postal assistant in Gerdauen , from 1916 he was postal secretary in Königsberg. He belonged to the Association of Middle Reich, Post and Telegraph Officials and was also a member of the Federation of German Land Reformers . In 1912 he participated in the founding of the non-profit housing association Gerdauen , of which he was chairman until 1915. In 1918 he became the shop steward of the Königsberg Workers 'and Soldiers' Council for postal and telegraph matters and was temporarily appointed head of the Königsberg postal administration . In 1933 he - meanwhile post director - was dismissed from the postal service by the National Socialists for political reasons. After 1945 he was able to work again at the post office and in 1949 became head of the Hanover Post Office .

Steinkopf joined the SPD in Königsberg in 1916.

Steinkopf belonged to the East Prussian Provincial Assembly. In 1919/20 he was a member of the Weimar National Assembly . He was then a member of the Reichstag until 1930 .
