General
Wilwerdingen is an elongated street village . Until secularization at the end of the 18th century, it belonged largely to the Hohenfels (Houffalize) rule . However, part of the village belonged to the Vianden rule . In 1889 Wilwerdingen was connected to the Vennbahn , which ran between Aachen , Sankt Vith and Ulflingen. A strong population growth and economic boom set in. Until the end of the First World War in 1918, there was a strong movement of goods to Germany . The line was badly damaged in World War II and finally shut down and dismantled in 1962. The station building, however, has been preserved to this day.
