Wim Vrijhoef

WIJM (Wim) Vrijhoef (born May 22, 1952 in Roermond ) is a Dutch politician .

biography

After attending high school , he studied medicine at the Catholic Radboud University in Nijmegen .

Subsequently, Vrijhoef, who is a member of the Democrats 66 (D66), began his professional and political career in September 1978 as a member of the municipal council of Nijmegen , of which he was a member until 1988. At the same time he was from September 1978 to 1982 alderman (Wethouder) for housing and economic affairs of the city of Nijmegen. In addition, between 1978 and 1982 he was a member of the Housing Commission of the Dutch Association of Municipalities (Vereniging van Nederlandse Gemeenten, VNG), a member of the Labor Council of the Province of Gelderland and chairman of the GAB Nijmegen Assistance Commission. At the same time he was chairman of the regional economy action program from 1979 to 1982.

In 1982 he was appointed as the councilor for finances, reorganization and automation of Nijmegen and thus treasurer of the city until 1986 . As such, he was temporarily interim chairman of the Computer Center of the East Netherlands (Computercentrum Oost-Nederland, CON) in 1982 and until 1983 chairman of the Joint Commission for Housing Legislative Models of the Ministerie van Volkshuisvesting, Ruimtelijke Ordening en Milieubeheer (VROM) and the VNG. In addition, from 1982 to 1986 he was also a member of the management of the VNG for Gelderland , editor of the "Handboek voor Gemeenteraadsleden" (Handboek voor Gemeenteraadsleden) and from 1983 to 1986 secretary of CON and chairman of the planning commission for the joint automation of five large municipalities in the Eastern Netherlands.

In 1986 he moved to Gelderland Development AG (Gelderse Ontwikkelingsmaatschappij (Naamloze vennootschap VN)) as a senior employee and acting director , of which he was director from 1989 to January 1, 1999. At the same time he was a member of the management of the basic health service in Nijmegen from 1986 to 1988 and a member of the board of the Kulturzentrum 042 (Cultureel Centrum 042) until 1989. At the same time he became commissioner of the Catholic Kolping Housing Association of Nijmegen in 1986 .

Between 1986 and 1988 he was also chairman of D66 in the Nijmegen municipal council. From 1987 to 1992 he was treasurer of the health insurance company Vlaams & Neutraal Ziekenfonds (VNS) and from 1989 to 1992 chairman of the regional health insurance company (Regionaal Ziekenfonds BAZ). Since 1990 he has been a member of the board committee of the Institute for Applied Sociology (ITS) and the transfer office of Radboud University Nijmegen.

On November 28, 1992 he succeeded Ries Jansen as party chairman (Partijvoorzitter) of D66 and held this office until he was replaced by Tom Kok on November 23, 1996.

He was then from January 1, 1997 to January 1, 2001 member of the Council for Rational Finance (Raad voor de Financiële Verhoudingen).

Since January 1st, 1999 Wim Vrijhoef has been Director of APM Business Partner NV.
