Wilhelmus Gerardus Johannes Maria "Wim" van de Camp (born July 27, 1953 in Oss , Netherlands) is a Dutch politician of the Christian Democratisch Appèl (CDA). From 2009 to 2019 van de Camp was a member of the European Parliament .

Life

After completing school at the agricultural school in Deventer , van de Camp studied law at Radboud University Nijmegen in Nijmegen , where he graduated in 1982. After completing his studies, van de Camp worked for the Association of Dutch Municipalities. Furthermore, van de Camp was politically active and became a member of the Christians Democratisch Appèl. In 1986 he became a member of the Second Chamber of the States General . In the following parliamentary elections, van de Camp was re-elected and belonged to the Dutch lower house for 23 years until 2009 (only the Dutch MP Bas van der Vlies was a longer member). Since 2009 van de Camp has been a member of the European Parliament for the CDA. Van de Camp is Roman Catholic and lives openly gay in The Hague .

Activities as a MEP

van de Camp was a member of the Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs and the delegation for relations with the People's Republic of China. As a deputy, he was in the Committee on Internal Market and Consumer Protection , in the Subcommittee on Human Rights, in the Special Committee against Organized Crime, Corruption and Money Laundering and in the Delegation for relations with Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Montenegro and Kosovo.
