Wimmelbach is a district of Oberhausen in the district of Forchheim in the district of Upper Franconia in Bavaria ( Germany ).
geography
The church village with a good 500 inhabitants is located about five kilometers west of the district town of Forchheim . It consists of the parts Ober- and Unterwimmelbach. While Unterwimmelbach grew several times over due to settlement development from the 1950s, Oberwimmelbach only grew slightly. The center of the place is the church of St. Laurentius, built at the beginning of the 20th century.
The Franconian Marienweg runs through the village .
history
The place was first mentioned in a document in 1007 in the founding deed of the Bamberg diocese . It is largely rural. For many centuries there were close relationships, especially with the neighboring town of Heroldsbach . Since the Bavarian regional reform, which came into force on January 1, 1972, the previously independent place has been part of the municipality of Hausen near Forchheim. In Wimmelbach there was one of the first industrial companies in the Forchheim area, a brick factory, but it no longer exists.
