The wind pressure , also the wind power , is a computational pressure in the construction industry , which is used when calculating wind loads on an object e.g. B. a building is used. It results from the dynamic pressure multiplied by aerodynamic pressure coefficients. The force on the object is obtained from the wind pressure multiplied by the reference area.

This is dynamic pressure , as opposed to atmospheric pressure , which is static pressure .

definition

The following applies to wind pressure and wind load :

    (in N / m 2 )

and

   (in N )

or

    and

With

= Reference area in m 2
= Pressure coefficient (dimensionless)
= Wind speed in m / s
= Density of air in kg / m 3

The density of air at mean sea level pressure of 1013.25 hPa = millibar = 760 Torr = mmHg is 1.293 kg / m 3 at 0 ° C and 1.204 kg / m 3 at 20 ° C .
