The Windows Hardware Engineering Conference ( WinHEC ) is an annual trade fair and business conference at which Microsoft carries out its hardware plans for the Windows platform. Typically, speeches by people like Bill Gates as well as sponsors such as B. Intel , HP or Samsung to the events.

At the WinHEC, Microsoft will present current and future developments and changes for the Windows operating system to the participants on several days in various lectures with changing speakers in order to jointly advance the provision of new hardware standards and devices and to enable their compatibility with Windows.

As an in- house exhibition , WinHEC can also be viewed as part of Microsoft's marketing strategy for the Windows platform. The sponsors and other exhibitors are given the opportunity to advertise their company and their products through their presence.

According to Microsoft, the target group of WinHEC includes representatives of hardware manufacturers for Windows computers who have to adapt their devices to the Windows architecture, developers and testers of driver software who are interested in Windows interfaces and developer tools for driver programming, as well as managers who have technical developments and corporate strategy are informed.
