Windows Image Acquisition

Windows Image Acquisition ( WIA ) is an image processing interface that can be compared with TWAIN . WIA is used to exchange data between graphics software and scanners , digital cameras and other digital video devices. Most new scanners support WIA, even if they are not specifically included in the list provided by Microsoft (see below).

WIA is currently not yet supported by the .NET framework . Software developers who want to use the WIA functionality from .NET therefore have to use direct DLL calls or ActiveX components.
