Winfried Berkemeier

Winfried Berkemeier (born January 22, 1953 in Gronau (Westphalia) ) is a former German football player .

Life

The striker and midfielder moved in 1973 at the age of twenty from SG Düren 99 to 1. FC Köln . After playing there only four times in the 1st Bundesliga in two years , he left FC and switched to Tennis Borussia Berlin , for which he made 104 competitive games in three years. In 1978 1. FC Nürnberg brought Berkemeier into their Bundesliga team. There he became a regular player straight away and played 32 of 34 possible games. From the beginning of the 1979/80 season he joined FC Schalke 04 , for which he played until 1981. After his time in the Ruhr area , he moved to Switzerland to join the BSC Young Boys .

After he had ended his active career, Berkemeier took over the position of coach at several Swiss clubs .
