Winfried Höntsch

Winfried Höntsch (born June 9, 1930 in Dresden ) is a German musicologist and artistic director .

Life

After graduating from high school, Winfried Höntsch studied musicology at the Humboldt University in Berlin and the “Hanns Eisler” University of Music in Berlin . From 1956 he worked in the music department in the Ministry of Culture in Berlin. In 1962 he became the first dramaturge at the Dresden State Theater . In 1968 he took over the artistic direction of the Kulturpalast Dresden . From 1970 to 1976 he worked in the section for philosophy and cultural studies at the Technical University of Dresden and was awarded a Dr. phil. PhD. From 1976 to 1991 he was director of the Dresden Music Festival .
