Winston Groom
Winston Groom (born March 23, 1943 in Washington, DC - † September 16, 2020 in Point Clear , Baldwin County , Alabama ) was an American author .
Life
Winston Groom was born in Washington, DC in 1943, but grew up in Mobile , Alabama, and studied at the University of Alabama , where he was a member of the Delta Tau Delta student association . It went off in 1965. In the same year he entered the United States Army , where he served until 1969. Among other things, he also fought in the Vietnam War .
Groom has published a number of novels since the late 1970s . His novel Forrest Gump , published in 1986, was filmed in 1994 by Robert Zemeckis under the same title . After the global success of this film, Groom released a sequel with Gump & Co. in 1995 . In addition, Groom also wrote many non-fictional works that dealt, among other things, with the Second World War as well as American history and in particular the American Civil War.
