The Winter Quarters Bay (English for winter quarters bay ) is a small bay on the southeastern extension of the Antarctic Ross Island . It is immediately east of Hut Point .
Participants in the Discovery Expedition (1901-1904), led by British polar explorer Robert Falcon Scott, discovered and named them. It is named after the fact that the research vessel RRS Discovery was moored here for the winter and was enclosed by the ice in the Antarctic winters of 1902 and 1903.
