The Winterberg is a 461 meter high mountain in the northeastern Wasgau , as the southern part of the Palatinate Forest is also called together with the northern part of the Vosges. The north flank is on the district of Hauenstein (Palatinate) , the south flank to Erfweiler . The Queich rises two kilometers to the south-east and flows past its eastern flank. To the southeast of the mountain, in the Erfweiler district on the direct border with Hauenstein, there is also the so-called Winterkirchel , a church in the middle of the forest.
