history

The company was founded in 1914 when Heinrich Wipf took over the machine-based paper sack manufacturing company in Zurich from Carl Lüdin . With the establishment of Seetal Papier AG in 1952, Wipf entered envelope production. 1962 followed the entry into gravure printing and foil lamination as well as the production of the first vacuum packaging for coffee . In 1966 the business areas were bundled under the roof of the newly founded Wipf Holding AG.

In 1970 the group of companies moved from Zurich to the new plant in Volketswil , where Wipf AG still resides today. At the same time, the company entered film extrusion. In 1977 Seetal Papier AG entered direct advertising. In 1991 the Wipf Group acquired the Austrian Paka Verpackungen GmbH , which was later renamed Wipf Austria GmbH . In 1994 Seetal Papier AG acquired Schaller Frewi AG , from which Seetal Schaller AG emerged. In 2001, the group parted with its Photo Packaging division . In 2006 Seetal Schaller AG took over Elco Papier AG , from which Seetal Elco AG emerged. At the beginning of 2010 the plant in Austria (Wipf Austria GmbH) will be closed and the orders will be relocated back to the main plant in Volketswil. As of January 1, 2011, Seetal Elco AG has become Elco AG, based in Brugg.
