The Wipperau is a 35 kilometer long right tributary of the Ilmenau in the Lower Saxony district of Uelzen .

It rises southwest of Suhlendorf , in the Great Moor east of the Wrestedter district of Ostedt. In the Oldenstadt district of Uelzen , the Wipperau runs under the Elbe-Seiten Canal , before flowing into the Ilmenau around a kilometer later north of the city of Uelzen.

There are several (former) water mills on the Wipperau , including the Oetzmühle, the Woltersburger and the Oldenstädter Mühle.
