The Scientific-Technical Working Group for Building Preservation and Monument Preservation eV (WTA) is an international association of natural scientists , architects and preservationists . history

The association was founded in 1976 as Münchener Kreis eV in Munich. The first general meeting decided on March 14, 1977 to rename it to the Scientific and Technical Working Group for Building Preservation and Monument Preservation (WTA) and to be entered in the register of associations at the Munich District Court. Since its inception, regional groups in Germany , the Netherlands , Belgium , Switzerland , Hungary , the Czech Republic and Slovakia have been set up as independent organizations under the umbrella of the international association. The WTA Germany, based in Weimar , is headed by Gerd Birthig. The organization, which consists of more than 500 regular and sponsoring members, brings together scientists, experts, architects, engineers, preservationists as well as sponsoring institutions and companies from the field of building preservation and preservation. As a co-organizer, WTA-D is organizing the symposium at the Leipzig Monument Fair in cooperation with the Association of State Monument Preservators in Germany and the Fraunhofer Information Center for Space and Building .

The WTA is subdivided into 5 WTA centers, which fulfill different tasks. The work area of ​​the WTA is subdivided into 8 task areas, which as the heart of the WTA develop the WTA information sheets in a regulated process. Unit 6 Building Physics / Building Chemistry deals with all building physics and building chemistry issues related to building repairs. Section 7 Statics works on several WTA leaflets on issues relating to the load transfer of historical buildings. Section 8 Half-timbered / wooden structures deals with the extensive area of ​​repair and upgrading of wooden frameworks and other wooden structures.
