The Scientific regional library Lörrach (WRB) is a mental scientifically oriented regional library in Baden-Württemberg Lörrach .
history
The Lörrach Regional Scientific Library resulted from the resolution of the University of Education (PH) in Lörrach , which was resolved in the spring of 1984 . Among other things, the then district administrator Alois Rübsamen and former mayor Egon Hugenschmidt tried to preserve and make accessible to the entire population the media inventory of the university library. For this reason, on May 15, 1984, a non-profit support group was set up to carry out the construction and construction of a new library. On March 8, 1985, the WRB was ceremoniously opened in the basement of Haagener Strasse 49 in Nordstadt and presented to the public. It was subordinated to the education authority and thus to the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Culture . As a result of the state administrative reform in 2005, responsibility was transferred to the district office and three years later the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Science was responsible for the regional library. As a result, it was incorporated retrospectively as of January 1, 2008, into what was then the Lörrach University of Cooperative Education (BA), today's Baden-Württemberg Cooperative State University Lörrach (DHBW), into which it has since been integrated. This was followed in summer 2008 by the move to the current premises in a former KBC administration building on Marie-Curie-Strasse, where the library was reopened to the public on September 8, 2008.

The public open access library of the WRB shares the premises with the branch of the university library of the Baden-Württemberg Cooperative State University in Lörrach . The focus of the more than 35,000 media is on around 11,000 titles on cultural topics from the Lörrach area, Basel , Alsace , north-west Switzerland and southern Baden with the Lake Constance area . The Scientific Regional Library offers electronic interlibrary loan for a fee . The support group of the scientific regional library in Lörrach has been involved in the form of a registered association since 1984 . He makes all new purchases for the library with his own funds and, as the owner, makes the books and other media available for free loan.
