Wissmut was a rock band from Leipzig.

history

The band was founded in 2001 in Leipzig while the band Die Art was still in existence . Stylistically, she was similar to the latter and her musical style could be described as brute pop . The band released their first song "Aus Sehnsucht" on a label sampler. But this was musically different. The first concert took place on August 16, 2003 at an open air festival in Großenhain . At the same time her first EP "Sonne und Mond" was released on her own. The recordings for the first album were delayed because there were always line-up changes on the drums. In 2004 an EP "Cured" with four cover songs by the band The Cure was released. This gained a certain degree of notoriety even in Great Britain. When the lineup was solidified, an entire album was recorded. This was named "Bi" and was released in 2005. The first edition was sold out in no time.

At the beginning of 2006, Wissmut went into the studio to produce a new album. This should then be published in early 2007. In October 2006, however, a CD with rare vinyl B-sides and three unreleased songs called "Gigant Vinyl" was released for the time being. In December 2006, singer Makarios surprisingly announced his departure. But he finished the tour. Shortly afterwards the band was disbanded. With Sven Löbert on the drums, Die Art then reformed again.
