Vitaly Vorotnikov ( Russian Виталий Иванович Воротников ., Scientific transliteration Vitalij Ivanovich Vorotnikov * 20th January 1926 in Voronezh , † 20 February 2012 in Moscow ) was a Soviet politician , member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party and Prime Minister of the Russian SFSR (RSFSR) .

Life

education and profession

Worotnikow graduated from a technical college in Voronezh and worked from 1942 in the Dzerzhinsky locomotive factory as an apprentice and fitter in toolmaking. During the war he worked in agriculture for a while. In 1947, after further studies, he graduated in the field of technology for cutting cold metals. In 1948 he became head of an office in mechanical engineering. He studied until 1954 at the Faculty of Aircraft Construction at the Kuibyshev Aviation Institute at what is now the University of Samara .

Vorotnikov became a member of the CPSU in 1947 . From 1951 he held various party functions, becoming secretary of the party committee in a company in 1955 and secretary in the regional party committee in 1961. In 1963 he was elected to the Supreme Soviet of the RSFSR, and in 1967 he was appointed party leader in Kuibyshev Oblast . During this time, the car plant was established in Togliatti .

In 1970 he became a member of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR. He was a member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union (CPSU) . At the center of power

Supported by Yuri Andropov , Vorotnikov took over from Mikhail Solomenzew for the period from 1983 to 1988 as the chairman of the Council of Ministers (Prime Minister) of the RSFSR. At the same time he was promoted to candidate of the Politburo of the CPSU in June 1983 and in the same year to a full member of the highest political body of the USSR, the Politburo of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union, from December 26, 1983 to July 14, 1990 In 1985 he was in talks as Prime Minister of the USSR, but this was Nikolai Ryschkow .
