Witali Sems (born March 29, 1996 ) is a Kazakh sprinter who specializes in the 100-meter run , but at the beginning of his career also competed in the hurdles .

Athletic career

Vitali Sems gained his first experience at international championships at the Junior Asian Championships 2012 in Colombo , where he was eliminated in the 110-meter hurdles with 14.87 seconds in the first round, as well as at the Youth World Championships in Donetsk the following year with 14.38 seconds . In 2014 he finished sixth at the Junior Asian Championships in Taipei in 14.11 s and in 2016 he took part in the 60-meter run at the Indoor Asian Championships in Doha , but was disqualified there in the semifinals. Two years later he was eliminated from the Asian Indoor Championships in Tehran with 6.99 s in the first round and in the summer he took part in the Asian Games in Jakarta for the first time, where he was eliminated in the 100-meter run with 11.10 s in the lead . Even with the Kazakh 4 x 100 meter relay, he did not make it to the final with 40.04 seconds. In 2019 he took part with the relay at the Asian Championships in Doha, but could not finish the preliminary run there. Then he retired at the Summer Universiade in Naples over 100 meters with 10.75 s in the preliminary round and finished fifth in the relay in 40.00 s.

From 2015 to 2017, Sems was the Kazakh champion in the 100-meter run as well as in the 4-by-100-meter relay in 2018 and 2019 and in the mixed 4-by-400-meter relay in 2019. In 2018 he was also the indoor champion in the 60-meter run and in the 4 x 200-meter relay.
