Witchaven is a two-part computer game series that is assigned to the first-person shooter genre, but alsocontains role-playing elements.
history
The two Witchaven parts were developed by AWE Productions and Capstone Software and distributed by Intracorp Entertainment. Witchaven was published on 1995 by US Gold and tewi Publishing GmbH. The sequel, Witchaven II: Blood Vengeance , was released on 1996 by US Gold, Eidos Interactive, and Proein Software.
Both parts are based on the build engine . Around 2006, the former Capstone programmer Les Bird published the source code of Witchaven and Witchaven II because he accepted orphaned rights (" abandonware ").
Game content
The player character is a fantasy knight named Grondoval, who is sent by his king Verkapheron on a mission to kill an evil witch , Illwhyrin. In the successor, the enemy is her vengeful sister, the great witch Cirae-Argoth, who kidnaps all residents of Grandoval's home village.
In both games there are several weapons (almost exclusively melee weapons, such as two-handed , morning star and spear ), as well as magical scrolls (both defensive and offensive spells), such as flies , fear and fireball . Combat increases experience points in both games by killing enemies repeatedly.
