Vladimir Alexejewitsch Tschischow ( Russian Владимир Алексеевич Чижов ; born December 3, 1953 ) is a Russian diplomat . Since 2005 he has been the permanent representative of the Russian Federation to the European Union in Brussels .

Career

After graduating from the Moscow State Institute for International Relations in 1976, Chizhov held several posts in the diplomatic service for the Soviet Union and Russia , including in Greece , Cyprus and various European departments of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. From 2000 to 2002 he was Russia's special envoy for the Balkans, then until 2005 Deputy Foreign Minister.

Tschischow speaks English , Greek and French . He is married and has two children.
