Vladimir Ivanovich Istomin

Wladimir Iwanowitsch Istomin ( Russian Владимир Иванович Истомин , scientific transliteration Vladimir Ivanovič Istomin ; * March 7, 1809 ; † March 7, July / March 19,  1855 greg. Fallen off Sevastopol ) was a Russian naval officer.

After graduating from cadet school, Istomin joined the Russian fleet in 1827 and took part in the Battle of Navarino that same year . In the Russo-Turkish War of 1828/29 he was involved in the blockade of the Dardanelles . As the commander of the liner Parish , Istomin played a key role in the destruction of the Turkish fleet off Sinope . During the Crimean War , Istomin , who had meanwhile been promoted to Rear Admiral , fell defending Sevastopol.
