Vladimir Jakowlewitsch Feinberg

Wladimir Jakowlewitsch Feinberg ( Russian Владимир Яковлевич Файнберг / Wladimir Jakowlewitsch Fainberg ; born January 1, 1926 in Moscow ; † November 15, 2010 ibid) was a Soviet or Russian physicist.

Feinberg studied from 1943 to 1946 at the Moscow State Aviation Institute (MAI) and from 1946 to 1949 at the MEPhI , the Moscow Institute for Technical Physics. After graduating with distinction in 1949, he worked at the Lebedev Institute (FIAN) . In 1953 he received his doctorate; In 1962 he completed his habilitation in quantum field theory and elementary particle physics. From 1972 to 1994 he was head of the department for elementary particle physics at FIAN and from 1995 scientific director of FIAN.

In addition, he taught at the Faculty of Physics at Lomonosov University since 1956 and was appointed professor in 1972. As a scientist, he supervised 30 doctoral students and 10 post-doctoral students. He has published over 140 scientific papers.

Feinberg was a member of the nuclear physics department of the Russian Academy of Sciences . He was honored with the Badge of Honor of the Soviet Union .
