Vladimir Kalushin

Vladimir Kalushin ( Russian Владимир Калужин ; born August 28, 1936 in Kharkov , Ukrainian SSR ; † October 28, 2003 ) was a Russian chess player . He won the 18th European championship in correspondence chess .

Correspondence chess

Kaluschin learned to play chess at the age of 17. He has been playing correspondence chess since 1966. In the city tournament of the Evrard Delannoy Cup, he was a member of the winning team from Kharkov. By winning a major championship tournament at European level, he qualified for participation in the 18th European Championship. This lasted from 1978 to 1981. Kaluschin was European champion here. For this he received the title of International Correspondence Chess Master from the World Correspondence Chess Federation ICCF in 1981 .

In 1978 Kalushin won the city championship of Kharkov in Nahschach.

Private

Kalushin worked as an engineer until 1974. Then he worked as a chess teacher in a chess school in Kharkov.
